OM DRIVE RENTAL

While your car is repaired

Car rental while your car is repaired

A fortnight waiting for parts turns into six weeks. Rather than a daily hire bill that climbs every morning, rent by the week, extend as the workshop updates you, and hand the car back the day yours is ready.

A car key being handed over

Why weekly rental suits a repair gap

Open-ended by design

Repairs run late. Weekly rental is extended in writing a week at a time, so a delay is a phone call, not a new booking.

One weekly price

The weekly rent includes registration, scheduled servicing and a kilometre allowance, with cover and excess explained in your agreement before you sign. There is no daily charge accumulating in the background.

Simple paperwork for an insurance claim

You get a written quote, an agreement and a tax invoice for each payment. If your policy covers a hire car, those are the documents your insurer will ask for.

Return when yours is ready

After the minimum term, return the car with notice and the bond is refunded after the return inspection.

Daily hire or weekly rental for a repair?

Daily hire makes sense when

  • The workshop has the parts and quotes a few days.
  • Your insurer has arranged the hire car directly.
  • You need to return the car somewhere else.

Weekly rental makes sense when

  • The repair is measured in weeks: parts on back-order, a panel shop queue, an insurance assessment.
  • You are paying yourself and want one predictable weekly amount.
  • You might end up replacing the car and want time to choose. See long-term rental.

How it works

From the workshop's estimate to keys in hand

  1. 01

    Enquire with your estimate

Tell us the workshop's estimated timeframe and your start date. We confirm a car and send a written quote showing weekly rent, bond and kilometre allowance.

  2. 02

    Pick up and sign

Bring your licence, photo ID and the agreed payment method. We photograph the car's condition together and you sign electronically. See the rental requirements for the full list.

  3. 03

    Extend or return

When the workshop updates you, tell us. Extensions are agreed in writing; return is arranged with notice after the minimum term.

Questions about renting during a repair

I do not know how long the repair will take. Can I still rent?

Yes. Each car has a minimum term; beyond that you extend week by week in writing. Tell us before your planned return date and, if the car is not booked by someone else, you keep it.

Will my insurer pay for the rental?

Some comprehensive policies include a hire car after a not-at-fault accident or theft; many do not, or cap the daily amount. Check your policy and ask your insurer in writing. If you are paying, we provide a quote and a tax invoice you can send them. We invoice an insurer or repairer only when they have confirmed to us in writing that they will pay for your rental.

Can I return the car as soon as mine is ready?

Yes, with notice, after the minimum term. Your agreement sets out whether any rent for the remainder of the minimum term applies if you return early.

Is there a bond?

Yes, a refundable bond shown on each car, held for the rental and refunded after the return inspection, less any deductions agreed under your signed terms.

What if the repair is delayed again?

Tell us as soon as you hear from the workshop and we extend again. Weekly billing continues; nothing else changes.

We will match a car to the estimate and quote the weekly rent and bond in writing.
