OM DRIVE RENTAL

FAQ

Questions people ask before they rent

Straight answers. Where an amount depends on your car or agreement we say so rather than guess.

How does the bond work?

The bond shown on the car is paid before or at pickup and held for the rental. After the return inspection it is refunded, less any deductions agreed under your signed terms — for example unpaid rent, tolls, fines or a damage excess. The refund timeframe is stated in your agreement.

How and when do I pay?

Weekly rent is paid in advance on the day set in your agreement, using the payment method agreed before pickup. We never hold your full card number or bank details ourselves; payments go through a third-party provider or an agreed method. Missed payments are handled as set out in your agreement.

Who pays tolls and fines?

You do, for the period you have the car. If a toll or infringement notice reaches us, we nominate the driver as the law requires and a disclosed administration fee applies, as stated in your agreement.

What happens when the car is due for a service?

We organise and pay for scheduled servicing and will arrange a time with you. Where we can, we provide another car for the day. Please tell us promptly about any warning lights or faults.

What if the car breaks down?

Call us first, at any hour. Roadside assistance is arranged where the car carries it. Do not authorise repairs yourself unless we have agreed in writing.

What if I have an accident?

Make sure everyone is safe, call emergency services if needed, then call us. Collect the other party's details and photos. What you are responsible for after an incident, including any excess, is set out in your agreement before you sign.

Can I extend my rental?

Usually, yes. Tell us before your planned return date; if the car is not booked by someone else we extend the agreement in writing and keep billing weekly.

Can I return the car early?

Yes, with notice. Your agreement sets out whether any rent for the remainder of the minimum term is payable. The bond is refunded after the return inspection in the usual way.

Can someone else drive the car?

Only drivers named on the agreement. Additional drivers must meet the same licence and age requirements, show their licence and sign at pickup (or be added in writing later).

How many kilometres can I drive?

Each car has a weekly kilometre allowance shown on its page. Kilometres above the allowance are charged at the extra-kilometre rate shown, measured from the odometer at return. If you expect to drive a lot, ask for a higher allowance when you enquire.

Is smoking allowed in the car?

No. All cars are non-smoking, including vaping. A cleaning fee as stated in your agreement applies if the car is returned smelling of smoke.

What is the insurance excess?

Cover and excess are explained in your agreement before you sign — ask us. The excess for your car is shown on your quote before you sign.

Can I rent with an overseas or provisional licence, and is there a minimum age?

We'll confirm eligibility for your licence and age when you enquire. Tell us your licence type, the country that issued it and your age in the enquiry form.

Can I take the car interstate?

Ask first. Interstate travel may be permitted with written approval, subject to the agreement and any restrictions listed on the car.

What do I need to bring to pickup?

Your driver's licence, photo ID and the agreed payment method. See the rental requirements page for the full list.

Still unsure? See rental requirements, how it works or contact us.
